Fall 2011 Meeting Minutes
9/26/2011
Hello all! Thanks so much to those who were able to make the drive to the fall meeting on Sunday and thanks to Coach Wolf for hosting. We had some great discussion and it appears wrestling is growing all around the state with the addition of a number of new programs and the continued expansion of youth wrestling starting to flow over into the middle school level.
After our meeting, I received a challenge to the vote count on the proposal to change the weight classes. The officers made contact with the coaches in attendance and found that the 10-9 count observed was in error and should have been 10-10. Because this is a matter that impacts every team in the state we are opening this proposal to a statewide vote. Please email your response to the ALL of the following emails by Friday, September 30 (late votes will not be accepted):
Jason.moore@anthem.com; jaroth@insightbb.com; tim.lange@oldham.kyschools.us; coachq@insightbb.com
This proposal was presented to address the distribution of the weight classes based on the number of kids at those weights. District entries clearly show a higher proportion of kids in the lighter weight classes. Please see the minutes from the spring meeting (can be found on KYSWA.org) for information on the proposal and the data presented or contact an officer if you have questions. As a result of some of the feedback provided during and after the meeting, Option C has been included to adjust the weight classes while maintaining the current 15 weight class setup. Please make the following selections:
VOTE 1: Maintain current weight classes (70/75/82/89/96/103/110/117/124/131/140/150/165/185/230) or Change to new weight classes
VOTE 2: If we change to new weight classes select between
OPTION A (70/75/80/85/91/97/103/110/117/125/133/143/155/170/190/230)
OPTION B (70/75/80/86/92/98/104/111/119/127/135/146/158/175/195/235)
OPTION C (70/75/80/86/92/98/105/113/121/130/140/152/168/190/230)
One vote per team. Everyone please make 2 votes, a choice for vote 1 and a choice for vote 2. Even if you vote to maintain the current weights select which option you prefer in the event the vote is to make a change. Thank you all for your participation and for all you do for the kids in our wrestling programs throughout Kentucky.
